Cookie policy
Last updated 8 November 2026.
This page explains what is stored in your browser by ukplatecheck.com and the installed mobile version. It meets the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), the UK GDPR, and the LGPD for visitors in Brazil.
The short version
The public site sets no cookies. We do not use analytics, advertising, social media or tracking technologies of any kind.
What is stored in your browser
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
ukpc-notice-v1 | localStorage (not a cookie) | Remembers that you dismissed the privacy notice so it is not shown again. | Until you clear site data | Strictly necessary. No consent needed under PECR regulation 6(4). |
| Application cache | Service worker cache (mobile version only) | Stores the page, styles, script and icons of the mobile version so it opens quickly and the shell works offline. No vehicle data is ever cached. | Until you remove the app or clear site data | Strictly necessary for the installed app. |
ukpc_admin | Cookie (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Strict) | Keeps the administrator signed in. Only set on the administration pages after login; visitors never receive it. | 12 hours, or until sign-out | Strictly necessary. |
Why there is no cookie banner asking for consent
PECR requires consent before storing information on your device unless the storage is strictly necessary for a service you asked for. Everything listed above is strictly necessary, so we show an information notice rather than a consent request. If we ever add optional cookies, for example analytics, we will ask for your consent first and you will be able to refuse.
How to control storage
You can delete everything through your browser settings (Clear browsing data, or Settings, Safari, Clear History and Website Data on iPhone). Removing the installed mobile app from your home screen also removes its cache.
Third-party content
Pages do not embed third-party scripts, fonts, maps or videos, so no third party can set cookies through our pages. Links to GOV.UK, Transport for London, Companies House and Open Charge Map open those sites, which have their own cookie policies.
